Change
Zoe Deacon In the summer time water wil splash, in the Autumn breeze leaves will dance, during the winter snow will fall, in the spring new life for all, as she floats in the cool Autumn wind, she reminds us of change. |
MeaningThe meaning behind this poem is simply just the transition between seasons. I don't know what inspired me to write about this but I like the way it turned out.
Types and TechniquesThere are many techniques in this poem such as end rhyme in lines 3 and 4. Therefore there is only one couplet in this poem. Another technique is repetition used in the first 2 lines where it says 'in the Summer' and 'in the Autumn'. There is also a little bit of personification in this poem in line 2 as it says 'leaves will dance'. The type of this poem is a nonet. This means it has 9 lines and the first line has 9 syllables, the second has 8, the third has 7, the fourth has 6, the fifth has 5, the sixth has 4, the seventh has 3, the eighth has 2 and the ninth has 1.
Why I wrote this poemI wrote this poem the way I did because I wanted to add a bit of every season in there. I also wanted to add a little bit about a girl in there. I think the word change at the end fits nicely there as it is about all the seasons and the change. I did write this poem to experiment a nonet and am happy with the way it turned out.
